Explosion-proof package transformer substation of KTPV series

The KTPV series explosion-proof package transformer substation (hereinafter referred to as “substation”) is designed for supplying three-phase power to the electrical equipment installed in underground openings that are dangerous in gas (methane) and/or dust as well as for ensuring leakage-current protection and maximum overcurrent protection of low-voltage lines.

Substation operating conditions:

  1. climatic category according to GOST 15150-69: UKhL5 (NF5 as per IEC);
  2. altitude above sea level: no more than 1000 m;
  3. ambient temperature: from -10º C to +35º C; 
  4. relative ambient air humidity: up to 95% at 25° C; 
  5. without jerks and bumps; 
  6. environmental dust condition: no more than 1000 mg/m3
  7. operating position in space: horizontal; departure from the operating position is permissible to any direction for up to 15°.

Others technical specifications:

  1. Protection rating is IP54.
  2. Type of explosion protection of the power transformer compartment and high-voltage switchgear of the substation is RV-4V (PB Exdial).
  3. Type of explosion protection of the low-voltage switchgear of the substation is RV-ZVIa (Exdial)
  4. At the high-voltage side of the substation, change of the transformer ratio by ±5% is provided for.
  5. At the low-voltage side of the substation, there is an access to switchover of the power transformer winding circuit and vector group.

KTPV series substation component parts and principle of operation:

The substation is composed of the power transformer compartment, high-voltage and low-voltage switchgears (RUVN and RUNN respectively), and undercarriage.

Primary voltage is fed to the power transformer compartment through a vacuum circuit breaker by closing the RUVN high-voltage switchgear disconnector. The power transformer transforms the electric power voltage and transmits to the RUNN low-voltage switchgear that distributes the voltage of electric power and transmits to consumers.

The RUNN low-voltage switchgear is not completed with an automatic circuit breaker since the protection of the outgoing line and the substation itself is provided on the RUVN high-voltage switchgear side by means of a high-voltage vacuum circuit breaker and integrated microprocessor-based protection and control unit.

In the event of overload, short circuit, leakage current, overvoltage, undervoltage or other failures in the system, the

RUNN low-voltage switchgear’s microprocessor-based unit will send the information on such a failure to the screen with simultaneous sending a signal to the RUVN high-voltage switchgear’s microprocessor-based unit, which will cause immediate deenergization of the power transformer by means of the vacuum circuit breaker; thus, protection of not only the consumer supply line but also the substation as a whole is provided.

The KTPV series substation is made in accordance with the Corporate Standard Ts 00212883-022:2014.
